Today we have this absolutely gorgeous Le Mans blue 1968 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Coupe, which beside her beauty is the most powerful and rare factory produced Corvette from that period. This Corvette is one of the 80 ever built in ’68 with the mythical RPO L88 package under the hood.
But beside her beautiful shaped body and the powerful engine under the hood, this Corvette has also a dark side. The problem is, that these Corvette’s had an issue with engine cooling and didn’t want to start the engine on a cold weather. Also, they were not meant to be sold to the mainstream general public, instead they were purchased by a group of customers that they know what they are dealing with.
This 1968 Chevy Corvette it is equipped with a Chevrolet’s 427 cubic-inch, 7.0 liter big-block L88 V8 engine. With the RPO L88 package, which includes single 4-bbl carburetor, aluminum heads, aluminum intake and higher compression, this engine can easily rev up to 6300 RPM and produce around 550 horsepower.
This particular Corvette is equipped with a heavy-duty suspension and brakes. While the engine is bolted to a Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission. The rumors say that the L88 Corvette is capable of reaching 170 mph right from the factory.
