What will happen when you will put a powerful diesel engine in the classic muscle car? The answer is an insanely torque powerful machine that can do burnouts until it shreds the rear tires. That kind of classic muscle is this 1966 Pontiac Tempest, and as you can see it is all about GO rather than SHOW.
This ’66 Tempest build is simple as possible, without fancy equipment and gauges. Inside we can see rusted bare metal with only a steering wheel, shifter and bucket seats. However, the fun behind the wheel is just unbelievable, because it can do burnouts all day long and it blows black smoke like a locomotive.
Inside the engine bay there is a Turbocharged Cummins 359 cubic-inch, 5.9-liter 12V 6BT inline-six engine from an old Dodge Ram pickup truck. This engine can easily produce 270 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels. In addition, it is equipped with a Getrag 4-speed manual transmission and American Racing black rally steel wheels.
