As always, behind every classic American muscle car there is a story. But the story behind this gorgeous Sublime Green 1969 Dodge Charger R/T 426 HEMI, it is quite different. Bromley Howser is an engineer which has a huge passion for classic muscle cars and beside this Hemi Charger he also owns a 1963 Split-Window Corvette and a 1970 Chevy Chevelle 454. But his decision for getting a Charger, came under very unpleasant circumstances.
While driving his motorcycle Bromley was hit by a car, which left him with a broken back. He spend three weeks at intensive care and another two and a half years, learning how to walk and talk from beginning. While lying in the hospital his girlfriend asked him would he give up the motorcycle? His answer was Yes, “if I could get a HEMI Charger”.
After his recovery, he started looking for a Charger and found two classic Chargers in Denver. One of them was sitting in a field with its engine parts spread across the seller’s garage floor. But fortunately almost all the original parts were there, except for the fuel pump and the alternator. He rebuild the entire car by himself, using casting books as reference. Now this beautiful Sublime ’69 Hemi Charger is his biggest pride among his small muscle car collection.
