The future is now, therefore the performance division of Dodge had announced the new, electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT. Although we are constantly denying and we naturally have psychological defense mechanisms against all kinds of electric vehicles, we need to accept the reality that the future is electric, because of many reasons. We going to mention just a few of those: cost, environment, competition, and evolution. we won’t go through every each of these reasons, however, we will see what this new charger has to offer.
Dodge called this car, an electric Muscle car, and represents a direct competitor of Tesla, Lucid, and Mach-E Mustang. It has been designed as a high-performance electric vehicle. The front end is actually a huge wing or so-called “R-Wing”, which creates a massive downforce. Something that only we can see in the modern high-performance race cars such as Formula One or Indy Car race series.
The interior design has been inspired by the 1968 Dodge Charger. Wide dashboard with two LCD screens which provides a wide range of media or engine pieces of information. The console has a jet-fighter-inspired start button and a Hurst pistol-grip shifter design. Front sports and comfortable bucket seats and rear hatch and fold-flat rear seats provide huge storage capacity. The enormous panoramic glass roof gives the passengers a feeling of open-air space capacity.
The powertrain inside this all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT is the most interesting for Mopar enthusiasts. A battery-powered all-wheel drive so-called “Banshee” electric system, which includes 800 watts of electric motors. According to rumors, this system provides roughly 900 horsepower on all four wheels. Dodge has also developed a multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting called “eRupt Transmission” which actually brings closer the feeling of traditional gear shifting.
The awesome stance comes from the huge 21-inch diamond-cut wheels, which are equipped with Pirelli P-Zero tires, and secured with high-performance 6-piston Brembo brakes. The so-called “Fratzonic” unique exhaust system is developed to basically mimics the roar of the petrol-powered V8 supercharged engine, or as dodge describes, it can produce massive 126 decibels. Also, this electric vehicle depending on the driver’s needs can be engaged in Auto, Sport, Track, or Drag mode. This all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT could be available in 2024.
