We all know this 1968 Dodge Coronet 500 from the Gas Monkey Garage, but it’s always nice to see the story behind this classic Mopar. This silver ’68 Coronet with black wheels was bought by the G.M.G for $6500, which is a pretty good deal. And getting behind the wheel of this classic American muscle car, feels like you are 17 again.
Customizing an American muscle car is always a challenge, but, customizing a Mopar is a real deal. Originally they wanted to sell this Coronet and make some extra bucks. But Aaron had crushed this Coronet with his truck. So they had no choice, but to repaint and make some changes.
They have repainted the entire car in silver metallic color, have made some interior changes and voila the car is done. Originally the most powerful engine fitted in the 1968 Dodge Coronet 500 is Chryslers 383 cubic-inch, 6.3 liter big-block Magnum V8 engine. With 4-bbl carburetor this engine is factory rated at 330 horsepower and 425 lb.-ft. of torque.
Underneath it has a Magnum Force custom suspension, which dramatically improves ride quality. Set of Us Mags are equipped with Toyo Proxes tires and all secured with Wilwood brakes with slotted rotors on all four corners. Also, this Coronet 500 is equipped with 4-speed manual transmission. At the end this 1968 Dodge Coronet 500 came out amazing.
