In 1969 General Motors had started a stealth project in their Pontiac Motors division to build pre-production Trans Am prototype, which in that period they had developed two pre-production prototypes.
The prototype-one unfortunately is lost forever, but luckily prototype-two has been found and is one and only ‘69 Trans Am prototype in existence. This Trans Am was found on eBay in 2009, while the restoration process started in 2011 by the Supercar Specialties team. The whole car was dismantled and every single part was restored to his original condition.
This Prototype 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am under his unique fiberglass hood is equipped with General Motors 400 cubic-inch, 6.6 liter Pontiac Ram Air IV small-block V8 engine. Factory rated at 335 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. This prototype was also equipped with three-speed automatic transmission system. In 2015 this car was auctioned at Barrett-Jackson and was sold for amazing $285,000.00.
