When was the last time you saw a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL 427, especially in this kind of almost perfect condition like this one? These kinds of classics are so rare, that probably you will never have a chance to see them on a street. Unlike the Mustang, the Galaxie belongs to the full-size muscle car class, which can be compared with a Dodge Polara and Chevrolet Impala. Ours 1963 Ford Galaxie is characterized by a super rare option, such as the R-Code 427 engine and the black-on-black color combination with chrome trim.
As you can notice, despite it having been sitting in the hot sun for many years in Colorado the body is in almost flawless condition with only one rotted spot on the sill. The interior on the other side is in pretty good condition. Inside it is equipped with a black vinyl interior and chrome details. Between the front seats, there is a wide center console with an armrest and a Hurts white ball manual shifter. The dashboard has a minor crack. However, it has a radio, heater, clock, additional gauges, and an odometer that shows a little more than 78k miles. This is for sure one of the most comfortable interiors we have seen in American classics.
This 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL is powered by the legendary Ford cammer engine. 427 cubic-inch, 7.0-liter R-Code big-block V8 engine, whit two quad-barrel Holley carburetors this engine produces 425 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque from the factory. Behind the machine, there is a BorgWarner T-10 four-speed manual transmission which transfers the engine power to a 3.50:1 rear axle. The original wheels have been replaced with American Racing Torq Thrust 14″ wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. As we mentioned earlier, although this car is almost original there are lots of improvements that need to be done. Enjoy the video below.
